Sometimes the artist seems like a modern day oracle. I use the term artists loosely for the architect, the engineer, the scientist, really all those who create and discover qualify as artists. The individual alone, not so smart or even all that gifted. However when connected to the forces of life, those forces channel through the individual to reveal something meaningful and true.
This knowledge and meaning revealed moves the hearts of men (and women). People connect with the work on an emotional and/or spiritual level. Sometimes a mental or even physical reaction occurs, but it is the deep internal movement that matters.
Such heart changing experiences change lives for the betterment of all. The artist achieves greatness. Those who experience that greatness recognize and applaud it for as long as the art remains.
I strive to be such an artist, in all my work. More often than not, my effort fails terribly short, but the journey and hope somehow give purpose to effort and even the failure.
I find inspiration all around me, from people, nature, music, philosophy, and literature. Artists that inspire me include: Michelangelo, Auguste Rodin, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, sculptors of ancient Greece and many others. I am always on the lookout for new ideas and new artists to discover.
